CI's deleted by Aging mistakenly?

We switched off aging for a certain period and switched it on again.
Before switching it on, we checked the value for the attribute "Enable Aging" of a certain CI type (of which we wanted to keep all CI's)
in the CI Type Manager and it was set to false.
We ran a query to check if there are some CI's of this type with this attribute set to TRUE but there weren't any.
According to our understanding of the CI LifeCycle Management a CI that has the attribute "Enable Aging" set to false should never be delete by the aging process.
After switching on Aging a certain amount of these CI's have been deleted.
Did somebody have a similar problem?
Do we misunderstand something?
Can we trace the deletion of CI's? (Not just report "Candidates for Deletion")?

We use 10.11 CUP4 CP15

Any help is appreciated, thanks
