Computer to Net Device with only UCMDB

Jump to solution

Using only UCMDB how do I discover the switch/router relationships to a server? I'm looking for what credentials I need and what discovery jobs I need to run.

Adam;

I'll give you the 'best' answer first:

Use NNMi (and discover servers), and integrate to UCMDB.   If that is not an option... here is the 'good but not best' answer:

  1. Host Connection by Shell (to discover the computers)
  2. Host Connection by SNMP (to discover the network equipment)
  3. Host Networking by SNMP (discovers the Bridge CIT)
  4. Layer2 Topology CDP-LLDP based by SNMP (discovers Layer2 Connections)
  5. Layer2 Topology Bridge-based by SNMP (discovers Layer2 Connections)

Hope this helps,

Hi,

Looks like you need Network Infrastructure - > Layer2 -> Host Networking by SNMP.

Honestly I haven't used it before.
But in theory you need to provide SNMP credentials and run Host connection by SNMP and/or Client Connection by SNMP and then the discovered data should be enough to start the Host Networking by SNMP.

Nick
