Customized disocvery jobs ?

Jump to solution

Hello,

generally we are adding IP's and discover those in uCMDB9.05 by running or schedules jobs like below

1)ICMP 2)host connection by shell 3) oracle discovery accordingly after checking credentials  and evrythings.

i understand the risk (slowness,performance, schedular, adapters etc)

my question is

1)can we create single jobs which includes above 2 or 3 jobs as part of Concatenation and what are the steps

to create this just for testing purpose for minimum IP's?

2) If not how we can make discovery faster in uCMDB9.05 to get the things discover as soon as we add the IP' ranges

Thanks,

Rahul

Hi Rahul;

The jobs you mention have the following trigger CITs:  probe gateway, ip address, host.  You can build upon this.  For example, in the properties tab of the discovery job there is a checkbox near the bottom that states 'Invoke on New Triggered CIs immediately'.  Ensure this is checked.  This will help with all but the 'Range IPs by ICMP' job (which would trigger immediately only if there was a new probe added).  So, you kick off the 'Range IPs by ICMP' job, and if the 'Host Connection by Shell' job (hereafter HC by Shell) was set to 'Invoke on New Triggered CIs immediately' then as soon as the IP Address was reported to UCMDB, the HC by Shell job would kick off.  Then, if your Oracle job was also set to invoke immediately and its input CIT was a node, then it would be invoked immediately as well, thus speeding up your discovery.
