DDMA Port 22:why the ping needs to be opened

One of our client wants to have complete inventory of Servers for which we are proposing DDMi/DDMa.

Some of the servers are in DMZ LAN for which he is reluctant to open the ping.

Can you help me guide with details description so we can go to customer as why the ping needs to be opened.

Re: DDMA Port 22:why the ping needs to be opened

What version of UCMDB is being used?

I found this information regarding discovery when a remote server cannot be ping:

"If the server rejects a ping command, at least ucmdb will not discover the IP address attached to that server. So a IP CI needs to be created manually, then use it to run the host by shell/wmi/snmp discovery job."

Clarify also why you mention port 22, reserved for SSH protocol.
