Diference between oracle native driver instead of data direct driver

Hello,

I found in the hardening guide from 10.33 a connection option to use the oracle native driver instead of the ootb data direct driver.

But I didn't found some informations about the performance or why I could use the oracle native driver.

Is it better to use the ootb driver or is it better to use the oracle native to connect to the oracle backend?
