Jump to solution

File name Warning

"There is a file or folder on your computer called "C:\Program" which could cause certain applications to not function correctly, Renaming it to "C"\Program1" would solve this problem, Would you like to rename it now?"

also in C drive folder "Program" got created which is Empty.

anyone faced any similiar issue and have any workaround for the same, please let me know.

Thanks & Regards

We received the following from our TAM. We're getting ready to test it now:

The root cause for that problem is that while running scanner on Windows platform, the following command will be executed:

mkdir C:\Program Files (x86)\Hewlett-Packard\Discovery Agent\

The path is not surrounded with quotation marks "", which causes the issue.

The fix is to add quotation marks "" around the directory while executing the mkdir commands.

To do so, do the following:

  1. Download the zip
  2. In UCMDB UI, go to Data Flow Management > Adapter Management, search for and backup the following files:
    1. xml
    2. py
  3. Go to Administration > Package Manager, click Deploy packages to server (from local disk), and deploy the zip package you just downloaded.
  4. Restart the probes.

(In case the link in step one doesn't work, here's the full URL: https://softwaresupport.hpe.com/group/softwaresupport/search-result/-/facetsearch/attachment/KM02940732?fileName=FixProgramFolder.zip)

Good luck

Following: We are currently troubleshooting the same issue. We're on uCMDB 10.32 and just upgraded to CP24 Monday. It was brought to our attention today.

Has anyone tried to remove CP24 to see if that resolved the issue? Can you remove a CP once it's been installed?

Thanks,

Jeremiah

It's sounds like a Severity 1 defect, isn't it? Is there official reaction from HPE?

That I don't know. We contacted our TAM to let him know and he came back with the above response. So they're aware of it but I don't know how they plan to treat this.

HI All,

We came to know as well it's known issue and applied the hotfix suggested by Micro focus backend team.

we are messed up because we have deployed agent on 5000 desktop/laptop/server,  applying hotfix will not create that empty folder anymore but still most of users are getting that annoying popup message to change the folder name from "program" to "program1".

so now we plan on creating an batch script to remove the folder forcefully .

Thanks & Regards
