Getting Physical Serial Number

<!--Whether to report physical serial number from hwsmbiosPhysicalAttributeSerialNumber of scan file-->
    <property name="reportPhysicalSerialNumbers">true</property>

In the newest update there is a new clause to set ddmi scan file to report physical Serial number instead of virtual serial number.

Is there a equivalent function for DDMA? How are you guy quering the physical serial number? Would it be possible to implement this feature into DDMA script?

Re: Getting Physical Serial Number

It most probably was implemented long time ago.

Could you please confirm that ex-DDMa missing this property?

If yes, please provide the destination details (like OS+patch level)+CP/Update+Comm log with results enabled.

Re: Getting Physical Serial Number

Hi Dima,

We have seeing discovery returning virtual serial number for the following server:

Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition x64 Service Pack 1
OS Version 6.1.7601
HP Proliant BL460c G7

uCMDB 10.01 CUP 7.489
CP 12.08.1009

Discovery is returning virtual serial (VCX) instead of physical (USE)

I also attached comm log

Re: Getting Physical Serial Number

Thanks for sharing.

I'm trying to understand what the serial number for you is?

Is this Asset Tag, UUID or something else.

Would you mind sharing actual vs expected?

It will be also useful if you knwo how to retrive the serial number on OS level...

		<CMD>[CDATA: SELECT smBiosAssetTag FROM Win32_SystemEnclosure]</CMD>
		<RESULT>[CDATA: ROWS_1_COLS_1|_| ]</RESULT>
	</EXEC>
	<log start="10:15:13" severity="warn">Failed getting BIOS Asset Tag.</log>
