Re: Changing or keeping a UUID for a moved virtual machine

Hi Melissa,

How to solve the duplicity of virtual machines?
What has been identified so far is that the Bios UUID field is unique.

Re: Changing or keeping a UUID for a moved virtual machine

Have you run Host Application by Shell on these machines you have duplicated instances? The Host Connection/Application may be able to reconcile some of them. Also if you are moving the powered off machines from VMWare can cause such issues. If you don't need the powered off machines, turn the option off.

Re: Changing or keeping a UUID for a moved virtual machine

A System Management BIOS identifier that is designed to be unique across both time and space, and requires no central registration process. The UUID is 128 bits long uppercase value in big-endian encoding (example: 00112233-4455-6677-8899-AABBCCDDEEFF).

I think this field is automatically filled by the ucmdb?

Re: Changing or keeping a UUID for a moved virtual machine

UUID should be provided during the discovery via UDA. The UUID is generated during UDA install.
If the UDA deployment method is cloned than we can have an improper usage of the same UUID over multiple nodes. This will cause the merge of all those nodes.
