IBM Virtualization by Shell Job is creating DefaultDomain Node and not merging

We were discovering IBM AIX Servers by Agentless Job IBM Virtualization by Shell but suddenly the job created DefaultDomain Node and not Merging with the Server CI that was created earlier by the Inventory Discovery by Scanner Job and causing duplicate Node CIs.

In addition as the Node CI does not have enough attributes and related Shell CI it is not able to run the IBM LPAR and VIO Server Topology by Shell Job.

Re: IBM Virtualization by Shell Job is creating DefaultDomain Node and not merging

Hello Zubaer,

I would suspect you are on CP26. Does the CommLog reveal any failed queries or missing permissions which will lead to these week nodes?

Kind regards,

Re: IBM Virtualization by Shell Job is creating DefaultDomain Node and not merging

You have in your CommLog some failing commands lsivm, lswpar or ioscli. These may bring insuficient data. Still, we may have a workaround to parse the output from lshmc -n which can bring enough data to model the related IPs to that DefaultDomain node and thus forcing it to merge with the proper node.

This should reach RnD after you clarify the failing commands.

Kind regards,

Re: IBM Virtualization by Shell Job is creating DefaultDomain Node and not merging

As discussed with Server Team, these commands may fail legitimately based on how the HMC is configured, and is not disruptive to the discovery – probably why the job completes with Success. From the description of the commands above, my opinion is that they would not contribute to the missing details on the DefaultDomain node itself, so likely irrelevant.
