Inventory by Scanner Windows Server 2016

We are running an old version of UD (10.22 CUP CP20) and the inventory by scanner job is recognizing some of the newer Windows Server versions as Windows 10.  I notice that the Host Connection by Shell job recognizes the OS properly but the DiscoveredOS flip-flops when each job runs.  Just curious if there is a way to tell UD to use the Host Connection information rather than the Inventory by Scanner information for the DiscoveredOS attribute.

Re: Inventory by Scanner Windows Server 2016

It's a known issue and Windows 2016 isn't in the discovery content matrix of CP20. I think it was introduced in CP25-26 somewhere around that time, a year ago at least.

On server side, you can see it in 10.2x or 10.3x (even on 11.0) that in the startup.log you will see the OS version of the UCMDB server as Windows NT Unknown (10) due to the JRE8  old update which isn't aware of the Windows 2016 and Windows 10 family.

Anyway, back to the Windows 2016 discovery issue, maybe you can try to create a form of normalization rule to populate the os_version attribute based on the build number or something similar. There aren't too many build numbers for Windows 2016 and Windows 10.

Re: Inventory by Scanner Windows Server 2016

Thanks Bogdan for the information.  Since the host connection job populates the DiscoveredOSName attribute properly, do you know if there is a way to make that the preferred discovery over the inventory by scanner?
