Licensing

Experts,

How does the licensing of the HP uCMDB done ?

My understanding was, the no of licenses of HP uCMDB is completely based on the no of nodes it is discovering .

So for an esx server, does it consider only 1 license or does it count the no of VMs it is having ?

How about the netdevices discovering ? Is it considered ?

Please guide.

Thank you

dev

Re: Licensing

Each managed OS aka node counts.

So in the case you site each ESX sever and each VM counts.

Re: Licensing

Thank you for the reply..

So its the OS instances which are getting discovered, doesnt matter if its a VM or not ?

So for netdevices it doesnt matter how many we discover , if we have an advanced discovery license ?

Re: Licensing

Yes net devices count too.

If UD creates a nodse type ci it will likely count

You should try to manage .(dot) domain CIs as they are not complete but count.

Re: Licensing

Hi,

License count is totally depends on the discovered os instances by ud. Network devices and incomplete node discovery doesnot get counted against license consumption.

You can check the license consumption from UCMDB home page . On task bar you can see 'key' icon ,double click the same and check.

Regards,

Nick

The option you have mentioned will give only the currently discovered count , rite ?. Does it give how many further we can discover ?

Re: Licensing

Incomplete node means the nodes os details don't get identified by ud and shows IP_default domain cis.

Also for license ,u can see total license count and consumed count

Re: Licensing

It actually depends on what evaluation license you are having.

i guess, evaluation could be on 30 / 60 / 90 days  and I believe you would be able to check when the license is going to b expire.
