MS SQL database discovery

I am trying to discover MS SQL database.  I entered  a domain account credential which as permission to the database in “Generic DB Protocol” section and when i preformed "check Credential", i am getting an Error: Login failed for user …, so I had the DBA create a SQL login(local account) and the connection was successfully.

Does anyone know, if Domain account will work with uCMDB 10.01 for discovering MS SQL database.

Re: MS SQL database discovery

Are you trying to connect using NTLM?

Re: MS SQL database discovery

There are two potential solutions for the problem.

On the MS SQL server side:

- Please ensure that latest patches are installed on the server side http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2653857 .

- The user used fo rdiscovery should have option for interactive logon (AKA "Log on locally").

We have a workaround for UCMDB side, but this will disable CBC protection in your SSL connection. You can read more about SSL and CBC here ...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transport_Layer_Security

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Block_cipher_modes_of_operation#Cipher-block_chaining_.28CBC.29

To implement this will need to add following line to C:\hp\UCMDB\DataFlowProbe\bin\WrapperGateway.conf and C:\hp\UCMDB\DataFlowProbe\bin\WrapperManager.conf files and restart the probe:

wrapper.java.additional.33=-Djsse.enableCBCProtection=false

Most probably NTLMv2 will work after all, but this up to SQL server admin configuration.
