Need to understand agent configuration in UCMDB disaster recovery(DR)

Hi Team,

In UCMDB we have the DC and DR setup and please clarify below queries.

1. We have configured and pointed all the agents to DC UD server and if it will switch over to DR UD how we need to sync agent to DR UD?

2. Is it manual process or automatic?

3.If manual or automation please share the document to configure it.

UCMDB:2020.05

OS:RHEL 8

Hello

The agents point to the probe and it point to the server,  if you have a HA enviroment the Reader becomes on Writer automatically if there is a fail over of the Writer,  in your case as you have a DC and DR servers separately or in cluster, you should point your probes to new server changing the configuration file of the probe called dataflowprobe.properties and change the server name for the new one, then restart the probe services that is all.

Let me know any question

Best Regards

Hi Alan,

Thanks for your reply.

I just wanted to  check below queries.

1. If we moved to the DR side do we need to change the probe server name in all the agent managed nodes or only we need to change the probe server side. We have an separate Probe server in DR side as well.

Hello Pranav

I do not know your kind of deployment,  but if you want to use the DR server instead of the DC and if you are not using HA feature of CMS, and if both are using same DB (DC/DR), yes you just need to change the SERVER NAME of the probes not the server probe name, on the dataflowproperties there is a paramter that refence the SERVER NAME where is pointed the probe to send the information.

Please let me know any question

Hi Alan,

Thanks for your comment.

Please find the below our deployment.

In DC we have 2 servers 1 is for application and 1 is for DFP and Same setup in DR(1 App and 1 DFP). If we moved from DC to DR the agent managed nodes which is already communicating to DC probe server how it will communicate to DR probe server.

Do we need to change anything or automatically it will connect to the managed nodes.

Hi Pranav,

While installing agent, you can see secondarycallhomeprobeaddress you can mention(optional) as your DR probe address so that it will report to secondary probe address until primary is up.

The above option can be seen at discovery modules/jobs-->Tools and Samples-->UD agent management-->install/update UD agent-->properties tab in right side pane. you have to enable the option.
