Nortel switches Layer2 SNMP discovery

Hello Experts,

we are using the old Nortel network switches. Currently, we are investigating the option to discover these device along with the information of which MAC addresses are connected to these switches ports.

The plan is to map the topology of all the network devices interconnected by these switches.

Therefore, we would like to know whether we can use the Layer2 discovery mechanism to get this information. I assume that the swicthes are accessible by SNMP only.

The great candidate for this kind of discovery would be "CDP/LLDP Neighbors Layer 2 Devices by SNMP Adapter" as mentioned in the guide hp_man_UCMDB10.11_DiscIntegContent_Discovery_Modules_pdf.pdf.

Is someone experienced whether these devices are going to be discovered together with the Layer2 connections ?

Follows the exact list of devices.

Passport 8000
Passport 8606
Passport 8610
Passport 8810

Re: Nortel switches Layer2 SNMP discovery

Thanks for this advice. I have however done that already and unfortunately the assigned specialist has only suggested to read the manual. No experienced technicians on the other side unfortunately.
