Problem calling getCIsByType() web service from VB.NET code

Hi All

A customer of mine hit a problem calling getCIsByType() web service from VB.NET code. The exception they hit was:

Enter CI Type name (e.g. node): 1

System.Net.WebException: The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized.

   at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHttpClientProtocol.ReadResponse(SoapClie

ntMessage message, WebResponse response, Stream responseStream, Boolean asyncCal

l)

Does anyone have any pointers? Or working sample VB.NET code that can be used as a reference?

Customer already opened a support case to get some help but support replied that this was beyond them.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Problem calling getCIsByType() web service from VB.NET code

Hi,

The problem not related specificaly to VB. Error message "The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized" showing authorization problems. Please check that user used to connect has appropriate permissions.

I'd also suggest to check that in case HTTPS used appropriate certificate deployed on client side. To check the correctness of last statement you could try to remove HTTPS from "ucmdb-api" port bindings in JMX Ports Management Services -> ComponentsConfigurations. This will leave API working with HTTP only and will help you exclude problem with certificate.

Thanks Dima. Let me communicate those to the customer & let them investigate. Will update here again when I get their feedback.
