SNMP discovery

Hi,

Working on UCMDB 10.2  with updated CUP and CP.

I have done snmp v3 discovery but for few devices like Firewall, netprinter,  "SERIAL NO" is not availabel in devices properties. Only switches are showing serial no.

Can anybody suggest me what I need to do to get serial no from devices by SNMP discovery. As per communication log, there is no "Private serial no" value retrieved from device.

Regards,

Nick

Re: SNMP discovery

Here in lies an issue with SNMP.

Unless the appropriate attribute is populated on the device you will have this issue.

You would need to either fetch another attribute or populate it on the device.

Re: SNMP discovery

You can get the MIBs from the manufacter and use a MIB walker to verify a specific oid obtains the serial number

Edit the discovery script or create your own discovery script to use the oid specific for the serial number. You can have a specific job or trigger tql just on net devices that are not switches.
