SQL SERVER DUPLICATES IN UCMDB

Details:Current situation:
- We have “SQL Server” duplicates in UCMDB
- The duplicates are currently being sent to Service Manager.

Issues:
- Service Manager should not have these duplicates, as they are creating unwanted CI in SM.
- These duplicates in SM cause issues when it comes to choosing the right CI.

Enhancement requirement:
- The Duplicate should not be created to begin with.

Example : This image shows that SQL Servers named “MTL-HQ-S26/SQLPRD028” and “MTL-HQ-S26/SQLPRD027” are bad duplicates of “MTL-HQ-S28/SQLPRD028” and “MTL-HQ-S27/SQLPRD027

Re: SQL SERVER DUPLICATES IN UCMDB

It sounds more like a defect then enhancement. I would suggest opening support case with UCMDB support team.

Re: SQL SERVER DUPLICATES IN UCMDB

If they are being "discovered" on 026, they technically aren't duplicates, as you identify the DB by its name and the host. did you review the commlog to see what it is actually seeing on 026? This might be a good starting point.

Re: SQL SERVER DUPLICATES IN UCMDB

If you are Running MSSQL Server Connection by SQL and MSSQL topology by SQL and DB Connections by Shell try changing the parm on  DB Connections by Shel to discover_mssql = false

Re: SQL SERVER DUPLICATES IN UCMDB

Hi,

Thanks for your inputs.

We do have a support case in place for this issue. The suggestion is:

Please to turn on the following option in JMX console called 'reconciliation.prefer.crg.container'

ii.        Set it to true, it was added in 10.11 CUP7 and 10.22.

iii.        Then rerun job 'Merge Clustered Software' few times and verify if those instances can be merged.

We have implemented in DEV/UAT but did not observer any changes so far.
