UCMDB Discovery - SSH Permission Denied

Version: UCMDB 10.21

Discovery Error:- SSH: Permission Denied

I am able to successfully discover redhat 7.1 and 7.2 (does not host any DB) boxes but get ssh permission denied error for Redhat 5.11 & 6.7 boxes that hosts Oracle DB. The credentials work fine and hence successful discovery on other boxes. QAS configuration is used.

a. Able to login via ssh from management servers

b. account used for discovery can authenticate via membership in the global group

c. unix group added to users.allow in QAS configuration on the host

1. Could this ERROR be due to absence of public keys or discovery account/password in hosts? or

2. Due to the failure of creating any necessary home directory in hosts (or)

What could be causing this issue on these specific hosts & version of redhat servers? Kindly advise.

Re: UCMDB Discovery - SSH Permission Denied

Hi Manoj_G

About SSH: Permission Denied, you can check your commutation logs.  And in the log, you will also see the same issue “Permission Denied”. Then check which command raise this error messages.

The command may looks like:

<CMD>[CDATA: discovery_command]</CMD>
<RESULT>[CDATA: discovery_command_result]</RESULT>

After that you can copy this command and test in your target Linux box. As long as no accident you will get the same “Permission Denied” from your Linux box. It may because, for some discovery commands, we may need sudo permission.

In this case,  when you get such kind of “Permission Denied” issue, the easiest way is testing with your root account, if it is possible.
