UCMDB Integration Settings (Chunk Size) best practices

Hi All,

We used Asset Manager Population and Asset Manager Push adapters.

What values of "Data Push Chunk Size" and "Population Chunk Size" recommended  for the best performance?

DB Server - dedicated Oracle 11g.

Best Regards, Sergy

Re: UCMDB Integration Settings (Chunk Size) best practices

The chunk size for pushes should be tuned based on your throughput speed and probe memory allocation. We've been running with a chunk size of 32000 and a root limit of 6800. This is on the low side for our 12 thread, and beefy probe server, but gives us 30 seconds processing per chunk.

The only things to really watch are the timeout period, and the ratio between root and chunk (behavior/results can become unpredictable if you increase the ratio chunk/root). Probe memory usage could be a limiting factor, depending on your configuration (but that is more on the thread count).

Re: UCMDB Integration Settings (Chunk Size) best practices

what is the ideal chunk size for population from third party source like service now into ucmdb  to increase performance ? can this be increased from 200 to 1000 ?  how to set the delta synchronization at integration job without manually clicking - delta sync icon or button ?

Re: UCMDB Integration Settings (Chunk Size) best practices

There shouldn't be a real problem increasing chunk size, esp. with lower values. Each change should be monitored for performance (throughput) and quality (errors) during several runs. Chunk size can impact the ability for an adapter to run correctly, and there are influences (like timeout parameters) that can impact success (but can also be changed to accomodate new settings, if these are improving performance).

As to scheduling a delta:

Click to Edit the Integration Job, click on the TQL you want to set up for scheduled runs. Select the "Delta Syncronization" tab, and check the "Active" check box. Enter the schedule details are you see fit, and save the Integration Point.
