UCMDB Local Client 2018.08 is available on MySupport now

Jump to solution

Hello everyone,

We are glad to announce that UCMDB Local Client 2018.08 is available on MySupport now.

Windows --> UCMDB_00211

MacOS --> UCMDB_00212

The main feature is

Change Request: QCCR1H123242:
  Symptom:
*1. UCMDB Local Client: WebSEAL support*
Request to add a supported Authentication Mode. There are WebSEAL and F5 in
front of UCMDB server. This refers to support for Basic Authentication with
IBM Security Access Manager for Web WebSEAL version 8.0.

*2. UCMDB Local Client: support some Micro Focus ITOM suites*
Request to support some Micro Focus ITOM suites (Service Management
Automation, Operations Bridge Manager, and Application Performance
Management) that contain UCMDB version 10.20 or later.

*3. UCMDB Local Client: LDAP multi-repository*
Request to add a supported Authentication Mode. In 10.31, UCMDB supports
    multi-repository selection in Admin UI.
In the login panel of UCMDB Local Client, need to add a drop box listing all
the available user repository, and then the user can select one for
authentication. It's only for UCMDB 10.31.

*4. UCMDB Local Client: add JSP information*
No JSP detailed information in the applet UI. Need to add some additional
information displaying *Product name*, *User*, *Customer*, and *License
    status*.
Only support OOTB information as above.

*5. UCMDB Local Client: support MacOS *
Request to add a supported platform macOS.
User can launch UCMDB Local Client tool and open UCMDB UI on macOS.
  Resolution:
Added the following improvements to UCMDB Local Client:
*Supported Micro Focus ITOM suites* (Service Management Automation,
Operations Bridge Manager, and Application Performance Management) that
contain UCMDB version 10.20 or later.
    *Supported platform:* macOS
*Supported Authentication Modes:* LDAP Authentication and Basic
Authentication (This refers to support for Basic Authentication with IBM
Security Access Manager for Web WebSEAL version 8.0.)
*Display Content:* In the applet UI, there is additional information
displaying *Product name*, *User*, *Customer*, and *License status*.

Some advantages of using UCMDb Local client are:

  • shipped with its own JRE based on OpenJDK, local JRE configurations and restrictions won't be a problem
  • possibility to define multiple connection points to multiple UCMDB instances on HTTP or HTTPS
  • option to configure the client JVM memory settings independently
  • avoids the compatibility problems of some browser versions and flavors
  • a broad range of Supported UCMDB versions
  • easy deployment method. A zip file which can be unzipped anywhere and doesn't require an installation process
  • option to categorize the target environment as CMS, SMA, OpsB or APM

Kind regards,
Bogdan Mureșan

Hi, thanks for sharing.
Is it possible to login / authenticate with the domain user (LDAP)?

Thanks again.

Hello Marsella,

it works in the same manner as the legacy web based UI. It Supports LDAP, CAC auth and everything else.

Not only that it has the same functionality but it runs a little bit better as it's shipped with it's own JRE8.

Kind regards,

I apparently have a problem when I use a domain user (LDAP).
I'll review the fds and the other week I'll tell you.

If it works in legacy UI then it will work in Local Client.
There's no difference in the flow.
