UCMDB Local Client issue on Linux (Tom Sawyer Licensing cannot determine the host ID)

When we run UCMDB Local Client for Linux we get blank white screen. There is one error in logs:

"

Resolved Exception message [An error has occurred: Tom Sawyer Licensing cannot determine the host ID of your machine.

Ensure that the license server is running with administrative privileges.]
Licensing: Tom Sawyer Licensing cannot determine the host ID of your machine.

Ensure that the license server is running with administrative privileges.

"

How to resolve it ?

Thanks.

Re: UCMDB Local Client issue on Linux (Tom Sawyer Licensing cannot determine the host ID)

Hello,

In most cases this is a limitation of  the 3rd party To Sawyer. There is the following documented limitation, mainly for Omi or BSM:UCMDB does not support runningUCMDB UI fromaninternet browser started remotely.

Most issues are on  linux OS. Another known limitation was triggerd by a change of the locale . It should be english.Set the locale set to default value(EN) as a workaround.(/etc/sysconfig/i18n LANG variable to LANG="en_US.UTF-8"/ )

If possible try on a windows OS or on another linux but with default settings if possible. Hopefully you wil overcome the issue.

Re: UCMDB Local Client issue on Linux (Tom Sawyer Licensing cannot determine the host ID)

Hi,

>Set the locale set to default value(EN)

LANG env variable is ok:
inux-wks:~$ echo $LANG
en_US.UTF-8

>If possible try on a windows OS

On windows client works OK, but not convenient for me.

So, I'll use one of the windows DFP for UCMDB Client.

Thank you for reply.

Re: UCMDB Local Client issue on Linux (Tom Sawyer Licensing cannot determine the host ID)

Hello,

If you have other linux servers  I would suggest  to try on those as well.A missing packet for a font or anything needed for the UI from the operating system may cause such issue.

Otherwise I would suggest to submit a support case. You might receive a better workaround then use it on a windows OS.

Re: UCMDB Local Client issue on Linux (Tom Sawyer Licensing cannot determine the host ID)

Hello,

I just checked and it seems only last ucmdb local client is supported for linux and just for specific versions. Check the doc->https://docs.microfocus.com/itom/Universal_CMDB:2019.11/LogUcmdbDesktop

I saw that older versions are not supported for linux ->https://docs.microfocus.com/itom/Universal_CMDB:2018.08/admin/ucmdb_local_client

So if it does not work for a supported version as mentioned in the docs you can submit a support ticket

Hope it helps.

Best Regards,

Re: UCMDB Local Client issue on Linux (Tom Sawyer Licensing cannot determine the host ID)

I tried to reproduce the issue and ran into same issue. So it might be a configuration issue. I tried on HTTP  will try further with certificates and update.

Following is my setup

OBM 2020.05

Local Client 2020.05

CentOS 7.8
