(UCMDB) Support Tip - After a system upgrade to 10.33, dataflowprobes can't start any job

Problem :

After a system upgrade to 10.33, dataflowprobes can't start any job.

in probe-error.log, the following can be found :

[Heart Beat Thread] (ProbeTasksDistributerPull.java:902) - Can't retrieve tasks from the Server - Some error occurred (Check if the server is up)
java.lang.RuntimeException: The request requires user authentication.

or

[ERROR] [ProbeGW Task Results Sender] (TaskResultsSenderThread.java:290) - Failed sending results to the server, will retry later
java.util.concurrent.ExecutionException: java.lang.RuntimeException: The request requires user authentication.

Solution :

In previous versions of the product, some of the probe communications were using HTTP communication.
It was possible to add an authentication mechanism on the probe side, requiring a password.

With 10.3x, HTTPS is the default communication method and no passwords are required.

If the probe was installed from scratch, and the settings are not getting any password specified, the connection will fail.

In order to solve this, the authentication of probes can be deactivated, as no longer needed with the end to end encryption being the default behavior.

- connect to the UCMDB server jmx-console
- search for : setGlobalSettingValue
- set "name" to : jetty.connections.http.probe.basicAuthentication.enabled
- set "value" to : false (be sure to not include a trailing space)
- invoke

Restart UCMDB server, and the probes should be able to connect.
