UCMDB Support Tip: CI Custom Attribute is not getting populated thru UCMDB Webservice

When creating custom CI using WebService. Published the custom attributes created thru:

Modelling->Modelling Studio->Resources tab->Resource type "Queries"->Root->Integration->Data In->networkDataImport->then selected Root->Query Node Properties->Advanced layout settings.

Checked the calculate option., and tried to create a CI with the type "switch" which is under "Node" with two properties "serial_number" and "custom_attr_a" using Webservice.  As a result, it created the CI in uCMDB with the specified serial_number value, but the "custom_attr_a" field is blank. Having the supplied value for "custom_attr_a" not getting stored.

In order to resolved such problem:

Step One: You will need to check the logs in the time range that the job is executed.

Example in the

\\hp\UCMDB\UCMDBServer\runtime\log\cmdb.dal.log

…\\hp\UCMDB\UCMDBServer\runtime\log\cmdb.api.audit.detailed.log

Look for insert statement and to see if there are any errors warnings. If there is no insert statement available in these files, then.

Step Two: Export XML class definition for your node to see how new attributes were defined. Confirm you are able to populate those attributes from UI. If class model is correct. Then

Step Three: The root cause is probably the reconciliation module failing. It is suggested to reproduce and check cmdb.reconciliation.audit. To confirm if the operation is failing.

Be advice that any external uCMDB data population operation are going through identification layer. In other words you need to provide enough data to find which CI need to be updated along with attribute change. Node has one of most complicated identification rules. If you refer to the identification rule for the node CIT, you'll see <identification-criteria> section. The data you're providing along with change itself should be compliant with at least one of <identification-criterion>
