(UCMDB Support Tip) – Host connection by shell issue with XP OS

Since migration to 10.33, certain machines can no longer be discovered with Host connection By Shell job.

In Communication log there is a timeout on the command "wmic path Win32_BIOS get BIOSVersion"

<EXEC start="15:19:31" duration="15023" CMD="wmic path Win32_BIOS get BIOSVersion" RESULT="" IS_NULL="Y"> <ERROR class="com.hp.ucmdb.discovery.library.clients.ddmagent.AgentSessionException"> <message>[CDATA: java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out]</message>

It is suggested to use the workaround of skipping these function on XP machine, by modifying the condition in "host_win-shell" script: if (('XP' not in self.getRemoteOSVersion()) and ('5.2.3790' not in self.getRemoteOSVersion())): And to fix this issue in a future release, a defect (CR) has been raised internally.
