UCMDB Support Tip: How to resolve potential issues with ‘File Monitor by Shell’ job

‘File Monitor by Shell’ job creates configuration document CIs for files of different formats.

If this job takes a long time to finish or results in timeouts while reading certain files, it could be that the size of the files is too big. The CIs of type configuration document also contains the contents of the files, which means that this job is running commands to read the entire contents of the files so make sure you are not reading unwanted information.

If you go to the properties tab of the job, you can use some of the parameters to not read/discover files of certain extension for example if the target machine has xml files that are too big, you can exclude those types of files by changing the ‘extensions’ parameter.
