UCMDB Support Tip: What to do when several windows servers are reporting "No agent on machine"

When several Windows servers are reporting "No Agent on remote machine". These are manual installations through HP's SA, using Windows Remote Desktop Connection the same behavior continues. As the discagnt is still running on the hosts but no handshake can be established. The Keys are not copied when using a remote desktop connection to install agent manually.

 

Therefore, as a workaround you will need to copy the keys to the agent directory manually after the agent is installed and restart the agent.

Keys are to be copied to C:\Program Files (x86)\Hewlett-Packard\Discovery Agent

Such discrepancy has been identified and will be corrected in the HP Universal CMDB (UCMDB) next version.

 

An alternative workaround would be to change any scripts that are calling the agent installer from a remote share and copy down the installer and keys prior to install.

STR

  1. Login to a UCMDB Server using a remote desktop application.
  2. Create a space to run the agent install from the UCMDB server
  3. Copy agent installer and security keys to the directory.
  4. Using another Remote desktop application session login to a target system to run the agent install
  5. Access the drive where you created the agent install files on the UCMDB server
  6. Run the agent installer and follow the steps.
  7. Configure the port
  8. Configured the directory where the keys are located, in this case in the same directory as the agent install is located on the UCMDB server
  9. Once the agent is installed go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Hewlett-Packard\Discovery Agent
  10. There should be two files located in this directory to establish the secure connection.
  11. acstrust.cert
  12. agentca.pem
  13. Files are missing
  14. Uninstall the agent from the system
  15. Copy the agent install and security keys locally to the target system from the UCMDB server
  16. Run the installer again
  17. Once the agent is installed go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Hewlett-Packard\Discovery Agent
  18. You will see that the security keys are now installed and communication is established.
