UCMDB Tip: How Software Utilization data is collected

Recently we were receiving a lot of questions regarding how Software Utilization data is collected.

Please note that when the full agent deployment is done, it includes  the main agent (discagnt process) and the Software Utilization plug-in (discusge process). The Software Utilization Plug-in monitors the execution of all the running processes by polling the task list, records this information in special files (*.xmz) and then  creates a summary Software Utilization file (*.cxu file). The scanner (if configured) picks up this summary file (*.cxu)  and includes it as a special Software Utilization stored file inside a scan file (*.xsf).

In order for the scanner to be able to pick up the Software Utilization data, the data should already be present on the remote device.
