UCMDB Tip: How to delete unsent results on the Probe?

In some cases it might be necessary to empty the Probe queue that contains results that have not yet been transmitted to the UCMDB Server. Although it is possible to run clearProbeData.bat script on the Probe, this type of action is very close to re-installing a probe on DFM side. Each time it is done, all rediscovered CIs/links will be sent to the server when a job is executed for the first time. As a consequence, there may be additional load on the uCMDB server.

 If one wants to delete the unsent CIs, one can do it from the Probe JMX console as per steps below:

  • Open Probe JMX console:

http://<Probe Gateway machine name or IP address>:1977

(If you are running the Data Flow Probe locally, enter http://localhost:1977)

  • Navigate to Probe_<Probe Name>:type=GwTaskResultDistributer
  • Invoke dropUnsentResults().
  • Please note that this deletes the first 100 results, if it is required to delete more,  re-invoke the operation several times.
