UCMDB Tip : VMware discovery times out with no items discovered

Issue description:

After adding the .jar files for setup of VMware Discovery and when the discovery job is run sometimes the discovery job could time out with no items discovered after connecting.


Following errors can be seen in Probe logs:

It is a known issue. Antivirus scan can corrupt the pgsql DB of HP UD Probe. First the HP folder needs to be excluded from anti-virus scan.

After the exclusion of the HP folder, it is recommended to re-install the probe since some of the probe DB’s files could have been corrupted by anti-virus. 

(This is a simple process and should only take about 10-15 minutes)

To re-install the probe:
1.      Export and backup the IP ranges (From uCMDB UI)
2.      Uninstall the probe
3.      Re-install the probe and import the ranges.
4.      Set the jars for the VMware discovery.
5.      Perform the required discoveries.
