UD Scanner - Not Discovering all Directories and XML Files

Jump to solution

Hi

We have UD 10.21 Installed on Windows.

Our First Issue: Not all Directories are discovered by Scanner Job
Expected: Please refer attachment(C Drive). You can see many Directories listed under C and D Drive on the Server. we want all the Directories should be Discovered by Scanner.
Actual : Please see attachment (ScanFileDirectoryTab). In the Scan file under Directories tab you will see very few Directories are discovered.

Our Second Issue: Not all type of File extensions are discovered. Eg., XML files are not discovered by Scanner
Expected: There are lot of XML files are present on the Server. We want all of them to be discovered
Actual: We cannot find one XML file also discovered in the Scan File.

Can anyone please, both the issues are known limitation in UD 10.21 or is there something to fix from our end?

Regards
Ashok

Hi Melissa,

Thanks again for your response.

Can you please confirm, where I can select the Extensions, I am seeing the Extensions under one place only:

"Only Use Shortcuts to Files with these extensions:"

attached screenshot for your reference.is this where we should add? we thought this option is for only Desktop Shortcuts.

Also, How to enable scanner to discover all the Directories under a Drive, currenly UD Scanners will discover only specific directories.

Regards

Ashok

Discovery of files is used for software recognition in the probe server's XML enricher. Normally only executable files such as .exe,.dll,.ocx and +X on *NIX are collected and scanned. Can you explain more about why you are trying to discover XML files?

If you wish to see all directories go to Software Details -> File Scanning -> File Information to store -> Uncheck Do not store empty directories
