WebLogic AS software discovery in Solaris 10

Dears,

We are facing difficulties discovering the WebLogic AS software using Host Application by SSH job, as the job finishes successfully however we don't get the weblogic software or services or processes.

In the Comm log, we can see that whenever the user tries to discover the WebLogic process, the details gets truncated.

We checked the below document and we found that it is a known Solaris Securoty Restriction:

https://softwaresupport.hp.com/group/softwaresupport/search-result/-/facetsearch/document/KM00600222

However we use a key for SSH discovery, and we don't know what is needed to be done so that we can discover the WebLogic processes and software.

Appreciate your support.

Thanks.

Hi,

If you run that ps command directly on the remote machine with a root user do you see the entire info being displayed?

Unfortunately, we don't have the luxary of using or even testing using a root user.

but I suppose as per the KB document shar previously, it will show the truncated parameters.

What about the second option, since we use a key for SSH discovery..

Do we have to user SSH user with PS permissions, or what else needed?

Thanks allot 🙂

Hi Ahmed,

The second option means you need to use the same user which has started the weblogic process. It has nothing to do with the key.

Another option which might work would be to use the weblogic by JMX job to discover the weblogic and the proper topology. However you need the ipservice endpoints to be discovered previously for that.

I am not sure if we can use the process owner, will check that.

For JMX I bilieve it needs weblogic software and ip service endpoint, and most of our ip service endpoints are discovered but not the Weblogic AS

If you have specific ports, not default ones you can put them in the portNumberToPortName.xml then use the J2EE TCP ports to discover them.
