can ucmdb discovery pull in explorer (IE) version

ucmdb 10.01:

The difficulty to discover IE is that it is nto installed as a service and so not discovered as Installed Software

The following dos command provides tha ability to retrieve the IE version:

reg query "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Version Vector" | findstr IE

result:

IE    REG_SZ    9.0000

1. Is there a way to coonfigure the OOB Host Resource or Host Application adapters to bring this data in.

I would think it would brought in as Installed Software and the attribute Version contain the value.

Re: can ucmdb discovery pull in explorer (IE) version

Hi,

Can you please share the job you are trying to get the IE details?

I would recommend to run Host Applications by Shell if possible, enable the discover RunningSW from the properties section of the job, then from the adapter configuration enable the creation of the communication log, set it to always then rerun the job and see if the query you mention can be found in the commands run against the target server.

If you do find it please let us know the result.

attached is the communciation log for Host Resource by shell discovery with a computer with IE installed

Please note IE is discovered as a process becasue I had it running during the discovery.  Process CI does not have a version attribute.
