Re: cisco ip phone discovery

Hi Ankita,

To discover IP phones, you will need to use SNMP. You can try the job 'Host Resources by SNMP' and set 'discoverModules' parameter to true.

A CI is the general term for any item in your data model, and that is why it is termed "configuration item" or "CI"
A node is a specific type of CI - for example a windows server is a CI of type Node.

I would recommend looking through your CI Type Manager in UCMDB to see various types of CIs and you can check each CI's identification rule to learn more about what qualifies that particular type to belong in its respective CIT category.

Omar

Re: cisco ip phone discovery

I had to write a discovery that uses HTTP using the URL  http://ipaddress-of-phone/DeviceInformationX

This returns an XML doc with the basic information (including the phone number of the phone)

You can also use these to get more info:

http://ipaddress-of-phone/EthernetInformationX
http://ipaddress-of-phone/NetworkConfigurationX
http://ipaddress-of-phone/PortInformationX?nX
http://ipaddress-of-phone/StreamingStatisticsX
