hardware load balancer issue UCMDB

HI Team

We are facing issue with hardware load balancer configuration . Attached here architecture proposed. Pl let us know it is correct.

  1. Request from VIP 1 (10.9.82.136) should always route to both servers in pool because reader component is running on both servers. Health Monitor URL http://10.9.82.136:8080/ping/ will help load balancer decide on which servers reader component is active.
  2. Request from VIP 2 (10.9.82.137) should only route to the server with Writer component active. Health Monitor URL http://10.9.82.137:8080/ping /?restrictToWriter=true will help load balancer decide on which servers Writer component is active.

Challange we are facing is

  1. IP is not getting resolved as per above requirement. For e.g. 10.9.82.156 has writer component active so all request to VIP 10.9.82.137 should route/resolve to 10.9.82.156.

What could be the issue here ?

Cheers!

Re: hardware load balancer issue UCMDB

Hi,

Tha architecture seems to be OK (we have exactly the same) and all work fine !

Configuring your LB 10.9.82.37, make sure to verifiy :

 - Load-balancing method (Observed)

 - Persistence Type (Cookies)

 - Health check (Check HTTP)

 - URL Check result : HTTP response "200" => "UP"

Check also FQDN / IP resolution is corretcly declared for 10.9.82.156, either the port ...

Have you any Https redirection ?

Re: hardware load balancer issue UCMDB

The deployment guide showing following:

    • Configure the following URL for the Writer VIP address:

      /ping/?restrictToWriter=true

Possible responses from both of these URLs are Up or Down with http response codes 200 OK or 503 Service unavailable respectively.

The expected response should be Up.
