is the list of unrecognized files stored anywhere in the UD/Ucmdb database?

Jump to solution

In DDMI 7.x one could easily go into the ddmi database and find a table that held a unique ist of "unrecognized files"  and the count of each file instance for every device scanned in the environment. These were the files that were not recognized/enriched by an SAI and therefore not associated with an application. Is that same data found somewhere in UD/UCMDB 10.x either in a table or within the application somewhere other than the viewer? This will help us prioritize teaching and reduce the number of unrecognized files

Hello,

In UCMDB Unrecognized files are handle a bit different than in DDMI

First you would need to enable the import of the Unrecognized files by changing the setting on the Software Recognition Configuration Dialog Box and then select import the unrecognized files, this is disabled by default, you can do this from several locations

- Going to Data Flow Management > Software Library, configuration properties Icon, and then select import the unrecognized files, this is disabled by default

- Universal Discovery > Discovery Modules/Jobs > Discovery Modules > Hosts and Resources > Inventory Discovery > Inventory by Scanner > Properties tab > Global Configuration Files pane > Double-click EnricherServiceSettings.ini

- Universal Discovery > Discovery Modules/Jobs > Discovery Modules > Hosts and Resources > Inventory Discovery > Inventory by Scanner > Inventory Discovery by Manual Scanner Deployment > Properties tab > Global Configuration Files pane > Double-click EnricherServiceSettings.ini

Then you would need to use the express teaching option in order to teach the unrecognized files.

Periodically, you may want to remove unrecognized files for the following reasons:

Large amounts of unrecognized files are causing performance problems
Large amounts of unrecognized files are consuming large amounts of hard drive space
You have deleted a Node CI instance for a node, and you want to remove unrecognized files that are associated with the deleted node
You can remove all unrecognized files, or you can remove unrecognized files that reach an aging threshold.
