stack of switchess

hi team,

we have discovred one switch by SNMP jobs where client says this switch has stacking concept where multiple switches are connected to one switch. Please let me know  if we want to get the details of stacked switches connected to it we should enable SNMP on those switches also or not. Below is the expecattaitons of customer so how to achieve it. we have enable snmp only on one switch.

"Asset discovered contains only one device serial number, however in a stack switches there will be upto 7 devices and its very inportant to pull the details off all this switches for incident as well as for assets."

Re: stack of switchess

We have the same situation in our environment. I asked about this as soon as 10.0 came out and replaced DDMi.

DDMi was able to discover all the switches in the stack and report their serial numbers. With UD we are only able to get the Top switch.

We opened an enhancement requeset months and months ago that has been deferred and no action has been taken as of yet.

Thank you for providing this information.
Please let us know what that Enhancement Request ID was so we can follow up and check where things stand.

Re: stack of switchess

Hi Ankita,

You can try the job 'Host Resources by SNMP' and set 'discoverModules' parameter to true. It may discover your multiple switches as sub-module of the primary switch.

Re: stack of switchess

That did it. Finally!

It discovered HardwareBoard CI's as a sub component of the switch and those had the multiple/additional serial numbers!

Thank you!
