uCMDB Tip: SCCM integration case study

Hello all,

 

We had an issue with SCCM integration with a customer that had a huge database with records and wanted to import them to uCMDB. As i have not found another DB as big as that i wanted to share with you the issue and how we resolved it.

 

The problem was that the query agains the MS-SQL DB that SCCM is using to store data was taking a lot of time ending with a timeout when customer was trying to sync with uCMDB. What we did was remove the timeout parameter from the JDBC driver and let the sync to run for as long as was needed. It took more than 6 hours but the sync completed. Be advised that you can get out of memory issues if the environment cannot cope with this query.

 

The error looked something like this:

Caused by: java.sql.SQLTimeoutException: [mercury][SQLServer JDBC Driver]Execution timeout expired.
