without deploying an agent or a scanner

Jump to solution

I want to use UD to achieve the following Report on:

Operating System Name
Basic OS parameters
CPU
Memory
Disk available
“List of Software Installed as reported by OS ie Add/Remove programs list” and their Versions
IP Address
Mac Address
Logged on User Name
List of users added in OS
List of groups added in OS
BIOS information
Last Logged on Username and Date/Time

Can I do the above without deploying an agent or a scanner ,  please understand that I am trying to give confidence to the customer by communicating that I can achieve the above details without deploying any piece of software ( you call it an agent or a scanner is not important )… so please confirm if this is possible by just wmi or script based discovery

Hello,

There is Host Connection that brings some of the data such as hostname, the list of interfaces with ip adrresses, etc  and on top of that there is Host Resouces and Applications job that can bring more information including Installed Software, CPU, memory, etc. Please refer to Chapter 61 p. 752 and Chapter 46 p. 574 of the Discovery and Integrations Content Guide- Discovery Modules (http://support.openview.hp.com/selfsolve/document/KM00642633) for the details regarding these jobs. However, please note that some of the data that is requested will not be available  through these jobs (e.g. Last Logged on Username and Date/Time).

You can also use scanner-based inventory via agentless protocol and then more information will be available. Please refer to p.458 of the Data Flow Management guide (http://support.openview.hp.com/selfsolve/document/KM00642628) regarding what information can be collected by scanners.

Regards,

Irina
