Access to CMDB Help menu without sysadmin credentials for end users in uCMDB GUI.

Hi,

As part of the Customer support team, we face issue while trying to access the uCMDB Docs via Help Menu in the uCMDB GUI due to the login prompt for sysadmin credentials. Usually Sysadmin credentials are not shared with End users but with this new security prompt from 10.3X version many End users are complaining about unable to use the Help menu for uCMDB related information. Please remove this credential prompt and grant access to the Help menu as end users used to do in previous 10.x versions.

Regards,

CN Rail GDC team.

Can you share more details? Is this related to the new CMS UI, to the UCMDB Browser or to the admin UI?

Hi,

As I know it and also just tested the UI help do not require sysadmin or any server administrator priviledges. I just tested and created an user with view role/permission and indeed when help is accessed it prompts for username and password. I entered the viewer user and all good help opened.

Further more in latestversion of UCMDB the help is set by default to online. So it does not even prompt for username and password and it directly opens the online documentation (this can be more accurate and updated than offline one).  https://docs.microfocus.com/UCMDB/10.33/ucmdb-docs/docs/eng/doc_lib/Content/HomePage.htm

And also tested again by disabling this online help (cmdb.online.context.sensitive.help.enabled set to false) and tried with viewer user. So again the docs do not require administrator priviledges.

Thanks,

Razvan Bolocan

Testing has indicated it is possible to access the help files without admin level access rights.  If this continues to be a problem, please submit a ticket.  You can also cut and paste the notes from Razvan below in the case to help define your situation.
