IBM HMC version 9 support

IBM HMC version 9 support

Our end customer ΟΤΕ is planning to upgrade its IBM HMCs to version 9. These are consoles used for monitoring the IBM Virtualization infrastructure.

Since the latest supported version of IBM HMCs in "IBM Virtualization by Shell" job is version 8, this is either a stopper for upgrading, or there is a risk that they will not be able to properly discover their crucial IBM Virtualization infrastructure after the upgrade.

So it is suggested that IBM HMC version 9 is officially supported in a future CP update.

If somebody test how curent CP discover HMC 9?

Hello Pasol,

It seems that IBM HMC v9 can be successfully discovered with CP27 which we are at. However, this is not officially supported and it needs to be confirmed by Micro Focus and be documented accordingly.

Hello Yiannis,

do I correct understand that you try to discover HMC 9 and there wasn't any errors? Or you suggest only?

Pasol, you understood correctly. Our end customer has one IBM HMC v9, for which the uCMDB discovery runs successfully. But as said, Micro Focus needs to add official support for this version, as according to the documentation it is not officially supported.
