Kubernetes discovery additional Node CI attributes

0 Votes

During Kubernetes discovery, flat Node CIs are created and in order to collapse/merge with existing CIs we recommend the following attributes, if applicable and can be populated from K8 API.

  1. Name (Note, the field should be populated with hostname and not the FQDN. Case SD02563360)
  2. Domain Name
  3. Serial Number
  4. MAC Address (with related Interface)
  5. Related IP
    1. Name
    2. Populate Authoritative DNS with the FQDN (wish list, not required).
  6. Related Interface

We understand if any of the above attributes are not accessible during the discovery due to limitations within K9 API, however at minimum Name, however one other key attribute would be much appreciated to obtain the most possible accurate merge or no merge reconciliation condition during data-in.

From K8S perspective, the information in this idea is irrelevant so not retrievable by K8S RESTAPI.  To get this information, we need to improve the Host Application by Shell job.  So we’ll approach your enhancement by changing the function to “If we run the HAbS on the K8S node, it should be merged with the node reported by K8S”.
