UCMDB 10.11 to ucmdb 2019.02

Hi All,

We are planning to upgrade 10.11 to UCMDB 2019.02 version.

Current environment is a standalone (no HA, no DR), with one app and DB(mssql) server. And CM is running on another server.

I hope we can not do direct upgrade from 10.11 to 2019.02.

So do we have to do 10.11 to 10.22 first and then from 10.22 to 2018.11 as CM doesn't have 2019.02 and then upgrade Ucmdb alone to 2019.02.

Please let know if anyone has done this upgrade path.

Thanks in Advance.

Re: UCMDB 10.11 to ucmdb 2019.02

The last month of committed support for 10.11 was November 2017 so every UCMDB version released until then it was tested for a direct upgrade to it. This means that UCMDB 10.33 (which is has a full installer) supports upgrade from 10.11.

Having this in mind, the easiest upgrade flow will be:

10.11 --> 10.33 --> 2019.02

by the time you will finish the first stage of the upgrade and fix all the surprise problems, you will most likely be better off to do an upgrade to 2019.05.

Why not go for a fresh install with data migration?

Re: UCMDB 10.11 to ucmdb 2019.02

Hi John,

Thanks for your reply.

We have considered fresh install with data migration as well. But there are customization done to 1) class model (custom attributes), 2) discovery scripts, 3) integration adapters (custom integrations were done to three systems) 4) Service Modelings, Enrichment rules etc

Though we are comfortable losing CI history(keeping old systems in read only for few months), but we are worried it would be become a fresh implementation project discovering everything again, setting up integrations, service Models etc..

So may be we still have to look at the better way to deal this.

Regards,

SB

Re: UCMDB 10.11 to ucmdb 2019.02

Thanks Annindya for your reply, but thats a long route.
Hope 10.11 to 10.3X to UCMDB 2019.02 will be possible. But need to check Configuration Manager feasibility. else 10.3X to UCMDB 2018.11 should be done

Re: UCMDB 10.11 to ucmdb 2019.02

In CMS 2019.05 we released the Policy Mangement feature.

https://docs.microfocus.com/itom/Universal_CMDB:2019.05/ReleaseNotes (search for policy, middle of the page)

And in 2019.05 we have no CM released or supported.
So you can kind of guess that we're moving the CM functionality to the New UI. Somehow and in time.

I would reconsider the option to use CM all together.

I suggest you do a dry-run upgrade in a cloned environment and after one or two weeks you can reconsider your initial plan.
