Covid-19 has sparked one of the largest disruptions across the globe in recent memory. People’s lives have been irrevocably changed, and normalcy is still weeks, if not months away. One of the hardest hit areas is in the medical field, the front lines to combating this novel coronavirus. Each day, medical professionals risk their lives by being exposed to new cases, in order to help those that need it the most.
One of the biggest challenges is how to keep healthcare working, while minimizing exposure and risk to all of the employees. With the shelter-at-home orders now in every state in the US, technology needs to step up and enable these employees to be as effective as if they were in the office or hospital. While video conferencing and remote connectivity has been around for years, the technology has never had to scale to such a high level, and puts a tremendous strain on the network infrastructure.
