After exporting tests from DefineIT to SillkCentral Test Manager why are the steps not displayed correctly?

Problem:

After exporting tests from DefineIT to SillkCentral Test Manager why are the steps not displayed correctly?

Resolution:


  • Product Name: DefineIT
  • Product Version: 2008, 2008 SP1
  • Product Component: Export Requirements and Tests to SilkCentral
  • Platform/OS Version: Windows XP, Windows 2000/2003 Server

This problem will occur if you do not assign an actor to the steps within DefineIT. You must assign an actor to every step otherwise when exported to SilkCentral Test Manager (SCTM) the steps appear within one row with the rest of the step information displayed within the "Expected Results" column as shown below.



Below we assign an actor to the steps within DefineIT. You must assign an actor to every step.



Now when you export to SCTM the steps should be displayed correctly:
