Can DocFactory print single glossaries or filter on terms?

Can DocFactory print single glossaries or filter on terms?

Problem:

Can DocFactory print single glossaries or filter on terms?

Resolution:

  • Product Name: CaliberRM
  • Product Version: 2006
  • Product Component: SDK
  • Platform/OS Version: All

At present it is not possible to specify the name of a glossary with DocFactory standard template controls. The only method at present is

$Begin_Glossary
Term: >
Definition: >
$End_Glossary

It is not possible to reference two glossaries, nor is it possible to filter a single glossary with DocFactory standard template controls. However this is possible using custom Visual Basic for Application (VBA) code (See attached).

To make use of this code you will firstly have to export the glossaries to a Microsoft Access Database,

This can be achieved by:

1. Open the CaliberRM Client.
2. Select FILE | EXPORT TO ACCESS
3. Select the Glossary table
4. Click EXPORT
5. Enter the path and name of database e.g. "c:\glossary.mdb"

The code will now use this database to add glossary terms to the end of the report. To filter glossaries and terms, the SQL in the attached VBA can be modified e.g.

SELECT * From glossary WHERE glossary = “Company Terms”

This will return all the terms and definitions for the “Company Terms” Glossary.
