Enable Caliber through a firewall

Enable Caliber through a firewall

To allow Caliber to run through a firewall,

  1. Open Control Panel
  2. Select System
  3. Select Advanced System Settings
  4. Click Environment Variables
  5. Click New
  6. Set Variable name as VERSANT_SERVER_PORTS
  7. Set Value as 20100-20200 
  8. Click OK to save the new environment variable
  9. Click OK to return to System Properties
  10. Close Control Panel dialog
  11. Reboot the machine so the environment variable can take effect

The following firewall rules will need to be created as well. There are both inbound and outbound rules:

Inbound Rules

  • Caliber TCP Ports 20000-20001
  • Caliber UDP Ports 20000-20001
  • Versant TCP 5019, 20100-20200

Port 5019 is the port setup for the ODCSSD service created during installation.

The other ports must be within range 1024 - 65534, inclusive.

Outbound Rules

  • Caliber TCP Ports 20000-20001
  • Caliber UDP Ports 20000-20001
  • Versant TCP 5019, 20100-20200

Caliber should now be able to communiate through the firewall.
