Error "CaliberRM Document Factory requires Microsoft Word" but word is installed already.

This error appears if a supported version of MS Word is not found on the machine from which DocFactory is being executed. There are a couple of scenarios in which this error may be seen.

MS Word is not installed:

Although DocFactory creates documents, it may not be obvious that MS Word is required versus another document application.

This is especially likely if DocFactory was launched from a server machine that does not have MS Office / Word installed. Another common scenario is a Citrix Server that is serving out the application, and then the clients access this and even though they have Office on their local machine, the executable is technically running against the Citrix server which most likely won"t have MS office installed either.

Full Version or compatible version of Word is not installed:

A limited version such as Word Viewer is installed and not a full version. Since DocFactory leverages the MS Mail Merge function to generate a document from a template, the document must of course be created and Word View will not allow for this capability.

You should also check for multiple versions of Word under

Sometimes after uninstalling older versions of Microsoft Office some registry keys are left behind. This causes Doc Factory to think that those older versions of Office are still installed, even though the actual program files are all removed. You can follow the steps here to clean up those old registry keys so Doc Factory can get a proper inventory of the software on the machine.

NOTE: Please make a backup of Registry before making any changes to it. You can severely damage a machine if an incorrect edit is made.
