How do I checkout a named DefineIT BLS license?

How do I checkout a named DefineIT BLS license?

Problem:

How do I checkout a named DefineIT BLS license?

Resolution:

  • Product Name: DefineIT
  • Product Version: 2006
  • Product Component: Licensing
  • Platform/OS Version: Windows XP/Windows 2000/2003 server

When a DefineIT named user connects to BLS the license is automatically checked out to that user. The default checkout time is 7 days but this can be changed to a maximum of 30 days. This is set within the file

C:\Borland\BLS4\confuserlist.txt

For example:

wbowman, *, 100_11_2, 7

This will check out the license automatically for 7 days for user wbowman.

If you disconnect from the network whilst DefineIT is still open the license will be released. When you then go to open DefineIT again offline you will not have a license.

You should close DefineIT before disconnecting from the network. When you then open DefineIT again offline, you will then have a license.
