Is it possible to create / schedule a CaliberRM backup which includes the date in the backup name?

Is it possible to create / schedule a CaliberRM backup which includes the date in the backup name?

Problem:

Is it possible to create / schedule a CaliberRM backup which includes the date in the backup name?

Resolution:

  • Product Name: CaliberRM
  • Product Version: All
  • Platform/OS Version: All

Yes, the following steps will allow you to achieve this.

Create a batch file to run the CaliberRM Backup command

The attached batch file example contains the following command.

dbmgr -backup C:\CaliberRM_Backup\SQMDB%date:~-4,4%%date:~-7,2%%date:~0,2%.bak

This creates a backup in the folder “C:\CaliberRM_Backup\” with the following format

database name | year | Month | Day

Create a scheduled task to run the batch file

  1. Open the Control Panel (START | SETTING | CONTROL PANEL)
  2. Double click the Scheduled Tasks icon
  3. Add a new scheduled task by clicking "Add Scheduled Task"
  4. Click Next
  5. Browse to the batch file created from Step 1.
  6. Choose when you want the backup to happen i.e. Daily, Weekly....
  7. Choose the time you wish the program to be run. Choose a time that there is low usage as backups are a resource intensive process
  8. Enter the user name and password of the CaliberRM DB owner. This is the windows user who created the database. If this account is not used then the CaliberRM Backups will not be created correctly and will be unusable
  9. To find out the DB owner run the following command from a command prompt "dbuser SQMDB". The user listed with the "DBA" column marked as "yes" will be the windows account you are required to use
  10. Click FINISH
