Is it possible to set the Borland Search Server indexer to run continously?

Is it possible to set the Borland Search Server indexer to run continously?

Problem:

Is it possible to set the Borland Search Server indexer to run continously?

Resolution:

  • Product Name: CaliberRM
  • Product Version: All
  • Product Component: Borland Search Server
  • Platform/OS Version: Windows 2000/2003 Server

By default the Borland Search Real Time indexer will move to a "Completed" state when there are no more .RDF files to index. If you are using Borland Search with MPX then this causes problems, as you need the indexer to be continually running.

You can set the real time indexer to run continuously by following the steps below:

  1. Navigate to “…\bss\config\starteam\”
  2. Open the indexer.properties file in notepad
  3. Look for the setting “RealTimeIndexer.MaxIdle" and set the value to “-1”
  4. Save changes and restart Borland Search
